High-Paid in Hollywood: 8 of the Richest Black Actors in 2020

July 21, 2020 By Cade Hildreth Leave a Comment

History has shown us how important it is to listen to black leaders. In the past few months, we’ve seen changes in every industry and institution in response to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Black creatives in Hollywood are stepping forward to address the racism that exists in Hollywood. From less publicity to smaller paychecks, black actors face a different reality than white actors.

Learn about eight black actors who are changing the landscape of Hollywood and the film industry itself.

The Richest Black Actors of 2020

Who are the richest black actors today? Read on to learn about these ultra-successful individuals.

1. Oprah Winfrey

While Oprah’s massive fortune wasn’t built on acting, alone, she deserves to make the list. As of 2020, Oprah is the richest black woman in the world with a net worth of almost $3 billion!

Of course, much of Oprah’s money comes from her former talk show, her network, and other film and television executive roles she has filled over the years. However, she has appeared in several movies, including The Color Purple (1985), Selma (2014), and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (2017). She even voice acted in Disney’s 2009 film, The Princess and the Frog, playing the role of Eudora.

2. Tyler Perry

Like Oprah, Tyler Perry’s $600 million fortune does not come from acting, alone. He is best known for his television show, House of Payne, as well as his original films. In fact, much of Perry’s fortune comes from the partnership he struck up with Oprah Winfrey!

That being said, Perry has starred in several of his own films, most notably the Madea movies that span from 2005 to the present. We first saw the arrival of this character in Diary of a Mad Black Woman. However, Madea saw a number of spin-offs including Madea’s Family Reunion (2006) and Madea’s Big Happy Family (2011).

3. Will Smith

Will Smith began accumulating fame and his current $350 million net worth back in the 1980s as a rapper, going by the artist name, The Fresh Prince. We, of course, saw the rise of this persona in the beloved 1990-1996 sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. From that point on, Smith was known more as an actor than a rapper, though he continued making well-received music for years.

Smith is considered a big asset in Hollywood, as almost all of his films rake in massive box office receipts. Two of his biggest films were Men In Black (1997), and I Am Legend (2007).

4. Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman, currently worth $250 million, has had a long career in acting. He began on the stage as a child, making a few movies between the 1960s and 1970s. Then, his career hit a bit of a lull until 1987, when he appeared in the movie, Street Smart, and received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

After that, Freeman’s career blossomed. He is now known for blockbuster hits like The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Million Dollar Baby (2004), and Invictus (2009).

5. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson has accumulated about $220 million as an actor and in 2011, became the highest all-time box office star. In other words, if Jackson’s in a movie, people are paying big bucks to see it!

Jackson has been acting since the 1970s, most notably appearing as Jedi Master Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977). Though his filmography is too long to list, he is perhaps known most for his relationship with Quentin Tarantino. Jackson has appeared in 6 of Tarantino’s 10 movies, including Pulp Fiction (1994) and The Hateful Eight (2015).

6. Denzel Washington

Denzel Washington is currently worth about $220 million. He has received numerous awards, including two Golden Globes, a Tony, and two Academy Awards.

Washington is considered one of the best actors of his generation and one of the most well-known names in America. He is best known for his appearance in period pieces or historical films, including Fences (2016), Malcolm X (1992), and Remember the Titans (2000).

7. Halle Berry

With the exception of Oprah Winfrey, there’s a fairly large discretion between the wealth accumulated by black men in film and black women in film. Halle Berry is one of the richest black female actors, and her net worth is about $70 million.

In 2001, Berry won the Academy Award for Best Actress after her role in Monster’s Ball. She is the only black woman ever to win the award. She has also appeared in multiple X-men movies, Cloud Atlas (2012), and Things We Lost in the Fire (2007), and much more.

8. Queen Latifah

Like Will Smith, Queen Latifah’s $65 million fortune has come from both her acting and her music. Her 1989 debut album, All Hail the Queen, brought her into the spotlight alongside her starring role in the hit sitcom, Living Single, which aired from 1993 to 1998.

Queen Latifah has appeared in a number of incredible films, including Taxi (2004), Beauty Shop (2005), and the 2007 musical remake of Hairspray. From 2013 to 2015, she hosted the CBS talk show, The Queen Latifah Show, and her portrayal of blues singer Bessie Smith in the 2015 HBO film, Bessie, won her critical acclaim.

.
As a real estate investor, the single most common question I get is how to buy a house for little to no money down.
.
It's a powerful question, because getting into the real estate game for little to no money down is how most people get their start.
.
So, what’s the answer? 🤔
.
Simple...these 6 mortgages will be the secret to your success:- USDA Loans (0% down) – For borrowers in rural areas, usually with a population under 20,000.- VA Loans (0% down) – For military personnel. Can be used for a single home or a multi-unit property up to 4 units.- The HomeReady™ Mortgage (3% down) – For lower income borrowers, backed by the U.S. government via Fannie Mae.- Conventional 97 Loan (3% down) – A low-down payment loan from Fannie Mae. To qualify, you can't have bought a home within the past 3 years.- FHA loans (3.5% down) – For low-to-moderate-income borrowers. Requires lower credit scores than many conventional loans.- Piggyback Loan (10% down) – You put 10% down. Then you acquire a primary mortgage for 80% and a secondary mortgage for the remaining 10%.What real estate questions can I answer for you? Ask them below. ⬇️

It’s simply not true, as this pic features foods I love and eat on the regular: Pizza and Burgers. What is true is…1. It’s nearly ALWAYS best to make these foods at home, so you can control the ingredients.2. To keep the calories down, use low carbs flours/breads, lean meats, and if relevant, low-fat cheeses.3. It’s BEST to cook with healthy oils, like olive oil and coconut oil. Stay AWAY from vegetable oil, canola oil, and other cheap oils that are ultra-processed.Unfortunately, the unsaturated fats found in vegetable oils trigger pro-inflammatory cascades in the body and are high in omega 6 fats. As the risk of inflammatory diseases go up, so does heart disorder as well as mood disorders, suicide, and homicide. Yikes, right?4. It’s best to eat your carbs in the 1-4 hours post-workout. This is when your body is most likely to use them as FUEL instead of store them as FAT.During this time window, your body opens up channel receptor on your cells that allows for nutrients to get shuttled into your muscles. This powerful and nifty trick is known as “Nutrient Timing.”Were you taught these tips and tricks for eating the foods you love, without packing on the pounds? ⬇️

⚠️ 7 Tips for a Leaner, Meaner Core ⚠️1. ⚠️ 7 Tips for a Leaner, Meaner Core ⚠️1. Embrace the "Big 3" compound lifts, which are the deadlift, squat and bench. They are exceptional for muscular development, because they require full body muscle recruitment. Seriously, there's no easier way to get stronger, faster, than to embrace these three lifts.2. Consider creatine. It's arguably the most studied supplement of all time and will facilitate both strength and lean mass gains for you.
3. Add a whey protein shake immediately post workout. It'll shuttle nutrients into your muscles and facilitate rapid recovery. (If you're trying to learn more about your whey protein options, either whey isolate or whey hydrolysate will work great.)4. Add an extra hour of sleep. High quality sleep accelerates weight loss, promotes muscle recovery, and prevents overeating. On an unrelated note, it also improves personal resilience and creativity. I've long thought my love of sleep is one of my personal advantages and it can be yours too.5. Eat within 30 minutes of waking. It'll regulate your hunger hormones, ghrelin and leptin, so that you make healthy food choices all day long.6. Swap high fat proteins (such as dark chicken, sausage, eggs, etc.) for low fat proteins (chicken breast, shrimp, egg whites, etc.) If your goal is to get leaner, this is an easy easy way to do it with minimal effort.7. Try out a standing desk. Prices on them have come down a lot in recent years. If you already have a desk, you can get ones that sit on top of a normal desk to provide standing desk heights—which is what I use and love. Standing desks are incredible for promoting core strength gains, for the simple reason that you're standing instead of slouching.Which tip will you try? Let me know below... ⬇️*Ring by @OuraRing

.
1. Work in a range of pulling AND pressing activities. Every muscle has a counter-muscle, so you’ll want to focus on training both.
.
2. Hit your upper body lifts (bicep curls, tricep extensions, etc.) from different ANGLES.
.
This prevents adaptation AND creates larger muscles by hitting all of the muscle fibers involved.
.
You can do this by bending over, sitting vs. standing, or changing your grip on the dumbbell or barbell.
.
3. Hit your big (compound) lifts first and train smaller muscle groups second your accessory work).
.
The reason to train compound lifts first is that you don't want isolated muscle groups that are pre-fatigued.
.
4. Train your biceps AND your triceps. Your triceps are about 2X as large as your biceps, so they need attention too.
.
While you’re at it, don’t forget your delts (shoulders) too. They merge into your biceps/triceps and add overall size.
.
5. It’s easier to build muscle if you’re eating a caloric surplus. You don’t want to go crazy here, because this can also lead to fat gain.
.
However, a caloric surplus of 100-200 calories per day can be an effective way to support accelerated muscle growth.
