There are a number of reasons to be thinking about gender neutral names, such as:
- Not wanting to apply gender labels or stereotypes to your child
- Not knowing the gender of your baby or the gender identity they will embrace
- Wanting to explore a diverse range of modern names
Many people also choose to use unisex or nonbinary names in adulthood to better fit their sense of self. With the rise of nonbinary celebrities, such as Bex Taylor-Klaus, Jonathan Van Ness, Alok Vaid-Menon, and Sam Smith, this is becoming increasingly common.
Indeed, androgynous baby names are surging, as more and more parents consider the possibility of gender fluidity in their children and attempt to break down gender stereotypes.
I obviously love gender-neutral names too, as I have one myself.
