Transform Your Home: Bobby Berk’s Top 9 Interior Design Tips

July 10, 2020 By Cade Hildreth Leave a Comment

Fun fact: the stars of Netflix’s Queer Eye amassed the most Instagram followers the year that it was released on the streaming platform.

That’s a lot of people dedicated to following the Fab Five. The design expert of the bunch, Bobby Berk, works to perfect the interiors of people’s homes.

If you’re looking for the perfect Bobby Berk home, here are nine of his best Queer Eye tips for transforming your home from the inside out.

Bobby Berk’s Home Transformation Tips

Whether you’re well-versed in interior design or looking for a simple way to get started, this list will meet you wherever you’re at.

1. Super Storage

Bobby Berk design is all about enterprising storage. Finding interesting and easy ways to store your items can create the most space in your home, regardless of how big or small it may actually be.

Unique storage can be obtained through multipurpose furniture. Think about the way that cabinets can be mounted or the use of cute organizers for space beneath your bed!

These choices can add a spark to your home while organizing your items.

2. Neat Neutrals

One of Bobby Berk’s key design tips involves a neutral palette. Neutral colors can provide a great theme for any room or just a simple base. If you’re using neutrals as a base for your room adds all the statements without the flash.

Neutral colors find themselves in muted browns. These include beige, tan, cream, and wheat.

What’s nice about these colors is that they also go well together, so a room filled with neutrals automatically looks well designed and professional.

3. Light it Up!

One thing people tend to skip over when it comes to interior design is lighting.

Not necessarily in lighting fixtures though! Lots of people put thought and effort into choosing the best chandelier or recessed ceiling lights, and you’ll probably read about the best choices to make in a magazine or two.

However, the type of lightbulb you choose to put into your fixtures can completely change the ambiance. This is also a way to switch up your scene and saving money to invest at the same time.

Some lightbulbs emit a warmer light color while others emit a cooler tone. This knowledge comes in handy when choosing the kind of vibe you want each room to have and the colors in each space.

4. Smart Sizing

This next Bobby Berk home tip is a lot simpler than you might think: pick furniture that fits in your home.

Here “fit” means size-wise. You’d be surprised by the amount that people pick furniture that is too big or too small.

Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the furniture doesn’t completely fit, but it certainly changes the vibe of a room. Picking furniture that works with the proportions of a room does wonders for its interior design.

5. Wall of Wonders

Along with most interior design tips, Bobby Berk design can’t resist a classic and effective statement wall.

Whether it’s with temporary wallpaper or a simple standout color, a statement wall gets the job done and makes, well, a statement!

There are tons of unique ways to incorporate original spins on the statement wall. Maybe yours has one large art piece on it or is covered in wood, but whatever you choose, as long as it’s on one wall, you’ve got a statement working.

6. Little Things Count

Small details in your living space can make the biggest difference.

This comes in choices of items like display tools and chairs. The size, shape, and material of small items in your home build up a consistent look.

Wicker is a material that is currently popular in storage baskets, tables, and chairs. Nicer display features like mounted shadow boxes and ladders with pictures hanging from them create a unique image in your home.

Don’t forget the small everyday things that you look at in your home that you can upgrade.

7. Useful Upcycles

Not only is this tip cheap and easy — it’s also sustainable!

Upcycling your old items with a neat layer of paint can completely change the game. And sometimes it’s just a matter of buying a small can of spray paint that completely revamps a decorative vase or picture frame!

8. Window Shopping

For inspiration, Bobby Berk recommends doing some window shopping.

If you’re wondering where to start, there’s no harm in snooping through some store windows outside and online. Most of the time, magazines will have photos of room designs that can get your imagination rolling.

Even if you’re not planning on buying anything, you can still browse to put together a great room vision board.

9. Make it Yours

Finally, the most important tip you can get from Bobby Berk is to make your space echo your personality.

Make it yours and it will be original.

Whether it’s with painting your favorite color or implementing your favorite animal into your shadow boxes if you make your space yours it will feel great. And when you get down to brass tacks, the way you feel when you walk into a room is the most important element of interior design.

You’ve got the world at your fingertips when it comes to decor, so make sure you leave your mark.

Feel Fabulous in Your Bobby Berk Home

What’s most important about your Bobby Berk home is that you make it your own using his top nine tips.

Before you know it, your space will be transformed into a home that you love and take pride in. So what are you waiting for? Start your own interior design project today.

For me, growing up has been a process of learning to look inward. It is about “listening” to the clear signals from my body, which always knows the answer if I’m willing to hear it.

My job is to listen and respond to that knowing. That to me, is emotional maturity.
