Is Daniel Levy Married? 7 Astonishing Facts You Didn’t Know About Him

January 14, 2023 By Cade Hildreth

Is Daniel Levy married? Is he a part of the LGBTQ+ community? What is he like off-screen? Does he have a partner?

Daniel Levy has been a big name in show business ever since the major success of his hit show Schitt’s Creek, but how much do you really know about him?

Born August 9, 1983, Daniel is a Canadian actor, writer, producer, and TV personality. He is also the son of Eugene Levy, the only actor to have appeared in all eight of the American Pie movies.

Daniel Levy is no stranger to the red carpet, but he’s stayed out of the tabloid spotlights and kept his persona pretty clean.

Is Daniel Levy Married? The Answer—and Other Surprising Facts

For answers to all of these questions and more, keep reading to learn about this rising comedy star.

1. Is Daniel Levy Married?

While Dan Levy might be living out a gay love story in Schitt’s Creek, his real-life romance is a little more guarded.

He tends to stay out of the eye of the media and doesn’t give much attention to magazines or talk-show hosts when it comes to his personal life and romantic endeavors.

That said, while there’s no clear answer to “is Daniel Levy married?” floating around on the internet, the likely answer is: no.

Dan seems to be enjoying his youth and keeping his dating life private, at least for now. Is a showstopper wedding in his future? Wait and see.

2. Is He a Part of the LGBTQ+ Community?

Many people who see Dan Levy’s character, David, on Schitt’s Creek love the pansexual representation. There’s a lack of pan representation in popular media, and a lot of people worry about pan erasure. But is he pansexual in real life?

While Dan Levy isn’t pan in real life, he is a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Daniel came out as a gay man when he was 18 years old. His parents were supportive, luckily, and he was able to thrive in his Hollywood community.

Dan wanted the pansexual representation in his show despite it not quite matching up with his “real life” sexuality. Even though the character doesn’t perfectly represent him, he loved the idea of not having to fit perfectly inside of a box and not being asked to.

3. What Else Has Daniel Levy Done?

If you haven’t been paying attention, Levy might have popped up out of nowhere directly onto the set of Schitt’s Creek. To people in the know with reality television, though, Daniel Levy isn’t a new name.

He’s hosted or guest-hosted several shows since he was 21 years old. He worked on MTV Canada!

He’s also hosting the Great Canadian Baking Show, a sister to the Great British Baking Show that so many people know and love.

Alongside his reality television work, he pops up as a guest in some acting roles as well. Have you spotted him recently?

4. Was He Born Famous?

If his name sounds familiar (or his signature eyebrows tipped you off), you might be on to something.

Daniel Levy is the son of Eugene Levy (major film star and his on-screen dad on Schitt’s Creek), but that didn’t necessarily give him a straight shot to stardom.

His parents kept him and his sister (also a Schitt’s Creek regular) out of the limelight to give them a more normal childhood. Dan Levy even worked at a video store before his rise to fame (does that sound familiar?).

So, in part, yes he was born famous. He wasn’t born with the way paved for him, though.

5. Can You Get His Style?

Well, kind of.

While you might not be able to steal his look (which doesn’t match David’s, bonus fact!) you can totally get his eyewear style for yourself.

Dan Levy has his own eyewear line that you can cop and wear to match his signature style.

He’s a man of many talents, and acting is only one of them. Fashion and design is another, and it’s a strong one!

6. What Did He Do for Schitt’s Creek?

Dan Levy isn’t only an actor in his hit show.

Schitt’s Creek is the brainchild of Dan and Eugene who worked together to pitch and create the program for a Canadian Network.

While they both obviously have starring roles, and the roles, in ways, reflect real life, they also worked behind the scenes.

The show is a family affair, with Dan, Eugene, and Sarah Levy all working together to bring it to life. Dan specifically wanted to create a world within his show where inclusivity thrived and homophobia didn’t exist.

This show wasn’t just acted out by Dan, he helped make it too.

7. Is Dan Levy Confident?

Whenever we see actors, we imagine them to be the epitome of confidence and grace. The reality, however, isn’t always so clear.

Daniel Levy is open about his experiences with shyness and anxiety, and how they impacted his career in and out of the Hollywood red carpet and limelight.

Working on-screen is hard, and it’s harder still when one is afraid of strangers or messing up. Do you think working alongside his family helped him out?

Anxiety and confidence don’t necessarily conflict, but it’s nice to see a celebrity as human sometimes.

Dan Levy, a Rising Star within the Queer Community

It’s normal to want to know everything about your favorite celebrity. “Is Daniel Levy married?”, “Is Dan Levy an LGBTQ+ actor?” and other questions are likely pop into your mind if you’re a fan of Schitt’s Creek. You’re not alone.

Representation is important and learning about celebrities who are openly LGBTQ+ is empowering.

In 2019, Levy was featured in OUT Magazine’s “Out 100” list of the year’s most impactful LGBTQ+ leaders. In March 2020, he was bestowed with the HRC Visibility Award. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Dan Levy does next in show business—or life.

Just finished watching this series on Netflix…this evening. Binge watched it in about a week and a half. This is now my favorite show of all time, which is saying a lot since I’m 71 years old. Ha! Every actor on this show is incredible, but I am in awe of Daniel Levy! Wow! Creative genius! Plus I love his smile! I’ve never rooted more for a group of characters/actors! I plan to watch it again…at a slower pace this next time!

MY FATHER WHO PASSED ON NOV. 4th 2020 LOOKED LIKE JOHNNY ROSE AND ACTED LIKE HIM. I HAVE WATCH THE CHRISTMAS SCENCE 20 TIMES BECAUSE MY DAD AND I WENT TO THE LOCAL NURSERY IN OUR SMALL TOWN OF OAKLEY CALIF. AND PICK OUT THE TREE. WHEN WE GOT BACK TO OUR HOME MY MOM HAD HOT CHOCOLATE WAITING FOR US AS WE DECORATED THE TREE AS A FAMILY. I CRY EVERY TIME I SEE THIS EPISODE BECAUSE IT REMINDS ME OF MY DAD. CHRISTMAS WAS IMPORTANT TO MY DAD AND HE MADE IT SPECIAL. HE PASSED FROM CANCER AND NOW I FEEL LIKE AN ORPANE.

My husband’s fraternity brothers told us about the show. We just finished all 6 seasons in 10 days watching every night after getting home from work. Best show ever!! We are obsessed and have started watching it all over. again. Kudos to them for completing the series at the top even though we were wanting more!!! Just loved the characters and we ended every day happy after watching it. Love, love, love this show. Now my all time favorite!

Congrats to the entire cast, everyone feels like a personal friend. I binge watch constantly, the show really lights up my day.
Every actor on the show are wonderful, but being a gay 74 year old man who has been in a relationship with another man for 42 years (10 legally married), I love David and Patrick characters and their daily tribulations and endearing love they send to the audience,
However, they couldn’t exist without the wonderful co actors., who help them justify their existence.
Can’t wait to get my merchandise I ordered.

    Ron & Gary
P.S. Daniel waiting for the movie because you have that great idea in you.

I started watching during Christmas break from work and I am addicted! I can hardly tear myself away to get to bed at night, because I just want to watch “one more episode.” I absolutely LOVE Dan Levy, and his character David! He would be such a hoot to hang out with. I would love it if we were friends!
The entire cast was selected for the best possible mix of laughs, tears and everything in between. I especially love the relationships that have developed along the way, with Stevie and Patrick and others, and David’s relationship with Alexis (the bickering and the caring). I can’t wait to see what Dan Levy does next!!!

Somehow we never watched Schitt’s Creek before. It was on at a time when we didn’t happen upon it, and our lives have been too busy for much television. During the Pandemic, we binged some shows. I had seen a few isolated episodes and I suggested we try it. Our entire family was immediately hooked. The show brought us laughter during a very sad time and made us feel a part of their world. We have slowed down on our binging because we were halfway through before we came up for air. The thought of having no new Schitt’s Creek episodes has made us slow our consumption down and treasure each more.

Happened upon this Schitt and I swear to God it’s keep me insane enough to stay sane. I love settling down with my nightly liter of wine and watching. They may be reruns (?), as I di not have cable but “Thank You”, Levy’s, Ms. O’Hara (!!!)-and I am reminded how I miss my long lost old SCTV favorites (Candy, Martin) from sooo long ago. I find it very interesting how this article claimed that Dan is enjoying his youth ( he’s 37 ) but I’d bet a million bucks that such a statement would never be said if this was about a women who was 37. It’s SO ANNOYING.
On the flip side Schitts Creek was such an awesome surprise. Like so many others I quickly became addicted to it! Hilarious show with important messages flawlessly thrown in. Still think it ended way to early but I respect their decision to do so. Go Canada!

Perfect show for the Coronavirus era. Heard about the 9 Emmys and started watching.
Completely and utterly hooked! Although, to be fair, this has more to do with Daniel Levy
than anything else. His character of David Rose is sweet, vulnerable and CLASSY.
A prodigious talent. The scene where he sings You’re the Best to Patrick is sublime.

Congratulations to you all. My husband and I watched the show , bought season 6 , then watched it again for the acting. I am a theatre director, and my husband was a Broadway Musical Director. We can’t thank you enough for the many lessons taught by your cast not only how to act and react, but how the world can be. We left the professional business because so many people were not very kind. It has been great reading and watching about how your group is when working together as an ensemble. We always hoped we could be a part of a group like that, but I guess it wasn’t meant for us. That being said, we are thrilled that there are actors like what we always hoped for, a real family unit! Keep up the wonderful work.

I love his character on Schitts Creek. I am currently watching the series for the 10th time. I was chomping at the bit to watch season 6 and was completely baffled when it was announced that they were not renewing the show! How could they possible cancel this show??? Everyone I know watched it. I’m so upset by this I can’t even express my deep disappointment in Netflix.

    • Robyn says

HI Cathy- The reason the show did not go on was not bc Netflix “canceled” it- it was actually the creators decision. Dan Levy has spoken about this decision in many many interviews. Just wanted to end on a high note. Sure you’ve come upon this info by now.

Because it’s the New Year, let’s talk about ch Because it’s the New Year, let’s talk about change...

For a long time, I’ve thought about top surgery. I remember when I was 6 or 7 years old when I wanted to run around outside on a hot, sunny day with my shirt off…and I first saw my parents… hesitate. Ughh.

It wasn’t their fault but I still remember that heart wrenching feeling. To their credit, they ultimately said, “Ok, go do it!” While I did “do it”, I remember the feeling of shame that crept in.

Over the years, being in affirming sporting/rugby circles helped suppress the urge to get top surgery, but it never quite “stayed down.”

So last summer I got keyhole #topsurgery. I’ll talk about recovery in another post because it was definitely weird to not strength train for months.

But in THIS post, I want to share two things:

1. I am SO grateful to my wife Erin for being the supportive and growth oriented partner that she is. 🥰🙏❤️

She is now following her call to get a divinity degree and she’s already working in ministry as a Pastor in Training at an incredible, inclusive Presbyterian church here in Virginia. I am grateful to her for supporting me as I become more and more of who I am—and I’m enjoying watching her do the same! Love you, babe!

2. Second, I’m grateful to get to share who I am with my family. This summer we took a trip to Madden’s resort in MN to celebrate my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. (It was actually their 52nd, because we had to postpone it twice due to Covid.)

I was nervous to be in the pools and lakes around them, but I could feel it was my only choice because I knew I wanted them to “know me”. And, how could that happen if I “hid me”?

Ultimately, I have to tell you…it was freeing to be me, as I am, who I am.

I had the BEST time splashing around and biking and goofing around with my wife, niece, nephew, & sister. 🌊🏖🐟

So, I suppose, this is a gratitude post to thank those who have supported me over the years as I become more and more of who I am.

Top of that list is my wife, Erin, but there are countless others. ❤️

If you’re reading this, thank YOU for being one of those people in my life too. I am deeply grateful. 🥹

Interview with Jenny Nguyen, Founder of the Sports Interview with Jenny Nguyen, Founder of the Sports Bra—The World's 1st Bar to Only Play Women's Sports - shorturl.at/doGHZ

I'm excited to introduce you to today's #podcast guest, Jenny Nguyen, who is a professional chef, elite athlete, and entrepreneur.

I invited Jenny onto the podcast because she has done something extraordinary that is long overdue: She has opened up a sports bar that exclusively plays women's sports!

Despite extensive research, Jenny hasn't found another sports bar worldwide that ONLY plays women’s sports.

Given that it's nearly 2023, this is mind-blowing. As a lifelong athlete, I find her vision compelling and inspiring.

Aptly called the "The Sports Bra", the venue is putting Jenny's culinary skills on display alongside women's sports worldwide.

The Sports Bar has taken its mission a even further by partnering with and elevating other local, women-owned businesses.

Specifically, it:

1. Sources its grass-fed beef from @CarmanRanch, an ranch run by Cory Carman, a third gen rancher out of Wallowa, Oregon).

2. Sources its alcohol from Freeland Spirits, an all-women owned and operated distillery out of NW Portland.

3. Has furniture built by @girlsbuild_org, a non-profit organization headed by @ktmhughes in Portland, OR, that teaches carpentry and construction skills to young girls as a path to empowerment.

Since opening the Sports Bra this April, people have come from ALL over the U.S. and the world to experience it—including many professional female athletes.

To learn more about Jenny as she makes history, features women's sports, and elevates women-run businesses, listen to the episode here:

Or, you can check out the Sports Bra at:

Have you heard of the Sports Bra or been out to experience it in person?
