remote work from home jobs

Currently, more than a third of the population of the world is in lock-down or some type of quarantine due to COVID-19 and the pandemic spreading globally.

I’ve been calling it the largest work-from-home experiment that’s ever been conducted.

As the coronavirus spreads, working from home is the new reality for many workers.

Unfortunately, many of us are not in the position that our current full-time jobs allow us to work from home. Which begs the questions, what are the best remote work from home jobs?

Read on to find out 15 options that you can pursue immediately.

Best Remote Work From Home Jobs

With the landscape of work changing due to the tech advances and COVID-19, the search for stable, remote work is on the rise.

You need to be mindful of certain things when searching for the perfect remote job. Some only pay for hourly work which means that your earnings could fluctuate at the end of each month.

You’ll want to find a remote job that offers strong, consistent cash flow if possible, to allow you to cover your monthly costs and have extra left for investing.

Another part of successfully working from home is ensuring that you have a stable, solid internet connection. When working remotely, you’re going to need to prove your reliability when it comes to being available and meeting deadlines.

Without further ado, let’s dive into 12 remote work from home job opportunities you can pursue today (all of which are in high demand)!

1. Social Media Management

Social media can help businesses grow, but many organizations don’t have a full-time resource to take care of their social media.

This is where you would come in, because managing after people’s Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms can be done on a retainer basis.

In today’s content driven world, it’s important for companies of all sizes to have a strong presence on social media.

It’s also important to have ‘native’ content sized and geared toward the unique audience on each platform. After all, what performs best on Instagram won’t perform as well on LinkedIn. And, what performs best as a Facebook Live won’t resonate with your followers on YouTube.

What this means for you is that brands/companies need help managing their social media platforms, because it’s hard to keep up with the need to post daily content across:

The great news about this remote work from home job is that you likely already have most of the requisite knowledge from using these social media platforms for personal use. Plus, you can keep up with social media changes over time by exploring new app features as they roll out or watching YouTube videos.

Meaning, your “continuing education” for this remote job will be free.

You can build yourself a salary if you manage to get four or five solid clients. If you can get 10-20, you’ll do really well. If you manage to secure 20-30 (or more) clients, then you can build you own social media agency and start hiring others.

Regardless of what volume of clients you decide to serve, this is an enjoyable and lucrative remote work from home job opportunity that you should consider pursuing.

2. Online Teaching

Many online teaching platforms don’t require you to have a formal teaching degree. You can sign up to teach children or adults English over Skype, Zoom or other video platforms.

As an example of this type of work, the company Preply is always hiring new tutors to teach 1:1 language lessons. According to Preply, their most popular tutors earn up to $550/week.

If you are a qualified teacher looking for remote work, then you can sign up for more in-depth teaching positions that are available for other subjects too.

With millions of kids currently home due to COVID-19 school shutdowns, many parents are directly hiring people to work with their children on different skill-sets from language to music to art and beyond.

2020 is a unique time in history if you’d like to teach and do it as a remote job from the comfort of your home.

3. Paid Media

Learning paid media is a powerful way to make yourself more valuable in today’s marketplace. Paid media can include running:

Every single business owner and entrepreneur is looking to hire for these positions, because nearly everyone has a smart phone within a few feet of their body. Best of all, you can often learn paid media skills in a few short months.

4. Freelance Writer

Many, many full-time writers work entirely remotely and from home. With thousands of freelance websites available with different job postings, you’ll be able to sign up for a few writing jobs.

Places like The HOTH offer full-time positions to writers who can work entirely remotely. The work is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you grab articles and topics from a queue.

You can set yourself a goal for each week in order to maximize your earnings.

Another smart approach is to contact any company you see that is using a content based strategy for lead generation. In short, pay attention to which companies are regularly publishing blog content and reach out to offer them your services.

*Pro Tip: Not all companies know this, but old blog posts need to be updated after one to two years or Google will start ranking them lower over time.

Thus, you could offer a “specialty” writing service focused on updating old blog posts for clients. As you refresh a client’s old blog content, their organic traffic levels will pick back up and you’ll get the credit.

If you target a company that has a few hundred (or a few thousand) old blog articles on their site, you could secure an awesome work from home job.

5. Graphic Design

At any given point, there are hundreds of businesses and individuals looking for graphic design work online. With platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork, you can find hundreds of design jobs posted almost daily.

If you’re only starting out, never fear, the graphic design jobs out there range from beginner level to expert, so there’s something for everyone.

Ideally, look for a company that wants you to do ongoing graphic design work for them.

Here are three types of companies you could target:

First, you could go after a company that is doing a lot of publishing in the form of articles, audio or videos. This is because every content piece, regardless of medium, needs a visual to promote it. As an example, podcasts still use graphics for branding, individual episode promotion, and paid ads.

Second, you could go after a company that is extremely active on social media. These types of companies constantly require different sized images and videos for use across the various social media platforms.

Third, you could offer your graphic design services to a company that has a large number of products to promote. This is because they’ll need new images created on an ongoing basis to advertise them online (ad fatigue requires it)!

6. Affiliate Marketing

An affiliate marketer is an online marketing expert who sells other people’s products. For every sale you make, you get to keep a cut of the profits for doing the promotion.

In short, you earn a commission from selling other people’s products/services.

The best thing about affiliate marketing is that it costs virtually nothing to set up, so you can get started right away.

All you need is an audience to sell to—such as a decent sized social media following—and you’ll be ready to launch.

If you’re ready to get started, head over to ClickBank.com to find affiliate products to choose from. The better these products fit your interests, the better you will do. So, take some time to explore your options before you make a decision.

7. Translation Services

If you find yourself in a position that you can speak two or more languages fluently, as well as read and write them, then you could look into setting yourself up as a translator.

According to this site, the most common languages worldwide are:

  1. Mandarin Chinese (1.1 billion speakers)
  2. English (983 million speakers)
  3. Hindi (544 million speakers)
  4. Spanish (527 million speakers)
  5. Arabic (422 million speakers)

There are several ways to make money through translation services.

First, people and businesses all over the world require translation services at some point. If you can specialize in the translation of a specific language, then you can offer this from the comfort of your home office.

Second, many business should be translating their websites to go after a larger global audience. Particularly with COVID-19 affecting regions differently, it’s wise for every company to diversify into new markets.

Third, Google has stated that it doesn’t have nearly as much content indexed in other languages than English. Because it’s much easier to rank your blog content in non-English languages, you can approach growth-minded companies and offer to translate their blog content to help dominate them Google in new geographies.

8. Data Entry

Data entry is a viable remote work opportunity. If you have a look at Zip Recruiter or other job site, you can see posts where people offer a decent hourly rate for people who are able to do data entry from home.

All you need is a computer and a reliable internet connection.

This job typically provides a lot of flexibility and freedom and pays around $12-15 per hour.

9. Transcription Jobs

This is a good option for you if you have the typing speed and accuracy of a Jedi.

Many corporate, legal and financial organizations are constantly in need of transcription services performed remotely.

If you have prior experience with a legal, medical or law enforcement job, this can certainly be a big help in the application process.

10. Remote Client Services

Some companies offer call center solutions to their customers, but unbeknownst to their clients, the call center agents sit all around the world in different timezones.

You can search for a position in client services or a call center that offers a remote position. All you’ll need is a headphone set with a microphone and a decent computer.

For example, a lot of telephone companies, insurance companies, and software companies hire for these types of remote positions.

I did a search for these types of jobs on Indeed and found hundreds with the average pay ranging from $15 to $55 per hour.

11. Copywriting

Copywriters are writing professionals who create written content for use in advertising a company’s products or services. The reason companies hire copywriters is that they can create compelling text that informs a targeted audience and influences them to buy.

In short, copywriting is the art of writing to sell—that is, persuasive writing.

Teach yourself this skill through books and courses and you can immediately command six-figures or more.

12. Digital Marketing

If you have a knack for everything digital, understand email marketing and the internet, then a remote position in digital marketing could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Many organizations have remote digital marketers that they use on a retainer basis. These remote digital markers help to put together email marketing campaigns, internet marketing campaigns and landing pages.

To fare best in the digital marketing world, I’d suggest that you choose a skill to specialize in, like email marketing, pay-per-click ads, or split-testing landing pages, for example. This will let you create a body of work to share with prospective new clients and be known as the “go to” person for a specific skill-set.

If you haven’t yet broken into the area of digital marketing, then offer to work for free for your first 1-3 clients. After you finish a project together, get a testimonial from them and use that as proof when you go after paying clients.

Digital marketing is an amazing remote work from home job to pursue, because this field is rapidly expanding.

If you want proof, it’s estimated that businesses will spend $110 billion on digital advertising in the U.S. this year, which is more than TV and print ads combined.

13. Building Sales Funnels for Businesses

Simply put, a sales funnel is a landing page that has the singular goal to convert a visitor into a buyer.

Every business needs a sales funnel in order to guide a customer through their journey to making a purchase. But, not every business is able to build their own.

Two companies that offer software for building sales funnels are ClickFunnels and Kajabi. Watch YouTube videos to learn your way around these platforms and you’ll be hireable in no time!

It’s possible to set yourself up as a sales funnel freelancer and either build or optimize businesses’ sales funnels for them. If you get really good, you can charge an upfront fee and a percentage of the total sales that get sold through the funnel you create.

Either way, this is a fun and fast growing remote job you can explore.

14. Phone Sales

Tens of thousands of businesses run ads on social media that direct potential leads to opt in for a phone consult. These businesses then hire sales professionals to take these calls and convert a percentage of the leads into buyers.

For example, I recently needed a roof replaced on a rental property that I own. When I went online, I was able to opt-in on several sites, and within minutes, I was getting calls from sales professionals who were clarifying my needs, making a pitch and offering me quotes.

Honestly, it was pretty awesome because it let me make a fast and competitive hiring decision.

Furthermore, with many businesses suddenly shutting down their physical locations due to COVID-19, they have suddenly shifted their sales process to the phone.

If you learn sales skills, you’ll always be in demand. Of course, you’ll need to study up on the sales process, which involves prospecting, fact finding, handling objections, closing and follow-up.

Best of all, sales people who do high-ticket phone sales can make $100,000 to $200,000 per year.

15. Video Editing

Video editing is another remote work from home job that was “hot” before the COVID-19 outbreaks and now is “red hot” due to the global shutdowns.

Video is one of the biggest trends of the last few years, with an estimated 81% of businesses now using video as a marketing tool.

From marketing influencers through to large corporate and global organizations, all are in need of different levels of video editing.

Best of all, video editing has gotten exceptionally intuitive and can be done within a number of apps on your iPhone, such as iMovie or InShot. You can learn how to use these video editing apps in an hour or two and suddenly be hireable for your newfound skill.

Again, I’d recommend working for a company that is producing a lot of daily video, so that you’ll have income consistency.

Best of all, if you specialize in split testing different product video variations to see which ones convert the best to sales, then you can help your client to lower ad costs, sell more products, and be more competitive in the marketplace.

Believe me, if you can do this, they’ll want you on payroll and will reward you well!
