In this interview with Patrice Palmer (they/them/theirs), we discuss their identity as a black, queer, and transgender (non-binary) individual.
We dig deep into their path toward self-discovery and acceptance. We unpack the profound significance nature of entering a space to listen, rather than to interact or impact—a skillset that facilitated Patrice’s own coming out experience.
We explore their profound TED Talk, “Are you a Man or Woman? … I’m Black.” (If you have watched it yet, stop and do that immediately.)
We delve into conversations around the critical role of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) within professional and personal spaces and discuss trends they are witnessing within this space.
Of course, we talk about Patrice’s love for craft beer and the lessons the brewing community can teach us about diversity and inclusion. I can’t wait until we can do a follow-up episode, in person, over a cold brew.
If you’re looking to better understand your own overlapping identities—and embrace your whole self in the process—then this is an episode you won’t want to miss!
